Courtney's notes
1. SET REALISTIC GOALS!
2. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SUPPORT! GET YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS ON BOARD.
3. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON NUTRITION!
- Buy healthy cookbooks.
- Check out
www.mypryamid.gov for recommended serving sizes of food groups based on your age, weight, and activity level.
4. PLAN AHEAD!
- Look at your calendar before the week begins to determine what lunches and dinners will be eaten out vs. prepared at home. Don't get caught starving and ready to inhale the first piece of food you find!
- Schedule your workouts like any other important meeting. Time to exercise does not magically appear!
5. PREP FOOD FOR THE WEEK ON SUNDAY!
- Grill extra chicken breasts, chop up lettuce and veggies for easy, ready to go salads during the week.
6. YOU MUST LIVE LIFE!
- Holidays, dinner parties, cocktail hours....they're going to happen. Enjoy, just don't go overboard. If you know you're having dinner with friends, pick the restaurant and check out their online menu before you go, so you know upon arrival what you're going to eat. If you're a guest to a dinner party, offer to bring the appetizer and just happen to make a healthy dish (hummus and veggies always works!). If you know it's "pizza night" with the kids, GET YOUR CARDIO IN!!!!!!! so you can afford those extra calories. AND, maybe consider homemade pizzas with whole wheat and/or thin crust and tons of veggies and/or turkey pepperoni.
POWER 30-MINUTE WORKOUT
**Always consult your physician before starting a new exercise routine.
It's about quality over quantity! So, you don't have an hour to exercise? Great! Get your buns in gear for a high impact, calorie burning 30-minute workout. The key is to rest as little as possible between sets. Keep your body moving the entire 30-minutes!
EQUIPMENT NEEDED - YOUR BODY, a jump-rope, 5lbs., 8lbs., or 10lbs. dumbbells.
WARM-UP
30-seconds of jump rope - REPEAT 3X - 1 jump per turn of the rope...speed jump rope!

JUMP ROPE FOR 1 MINUTE (OR 30-SECONDS AND WORK UP TO 1-MINUTE)
SET #2 (Use 5lbs., 8lbs., or 10lbs. dumbbells)
"T's" - LATERAL AND FRONT RAISES 10 reps/1 full lateral and front raise counts as 1 rep!
(with a dumbbell in each hand, bring arms straight out to shoulder level for lateral raise, and then straight in front of the body to eye level for front raise)
PUSH-UPS 10 reps
(if full push-ups, make sure your arms are under shoulders, keeping elbows close into the body and you press down...same applies for kneeling push-ups, just make sure your butt stays lower than your shoulders)
BENT OVER ROWS 10 reps
(with knees bent, back straight while leaning forward, a dumbbell in each hand with arms lowered straight in front of you, row arms straight back keeping elbows close into the sides and squeezing shoulder blades together)

For Intermediate, repeat 2-3x
For Advanced, repeat 3x
FINISH WITH ABS! (DO NOT PULL THE HEAD AND NECK FORWARD, KEEP HANDS BY EARS OR CROSSED OVER CHEST)

Tips and picks from Terence this week...
Ok cousin Maura gave me my second tip..which I had NEVER heard and Had to pass on..When she gets her manicure every other week, she asks the manicurist if she can take the bottle with her home..That way she can do fixes and then when she comes back in two weeks, she bring the bottle back..I LOVE THIS!!!!!! I can’t disclose where she lives or what she does..she doesn’t want her nail lady to get in trouble!!!
OK spring is here and that means it’s time to put away all those sweaters and break out our favorite spring and summer fashions. Now I adore plaid and LOVE this halter dress from Old Navy. It’s 29.50 and so cute..You could pair with great little cardigan at night and you are ready to go!
